Tathālokā Therī

Dear friends, Under the full moon, reminded of the cycles of the year and years, I come to forgiveness. In traditional Theravada Buddhism, as it is practiced in at least one of its home countries, this full moon is Bak Poya, a day dedicated to forgiveness, reconciliation, and especially in the Buddha's teaching the way of forgiveness and reconciliation of the heart and of our lives that brings liberation, the unbinding and freeing of the heart and mind. It is the lunar anniversary of one of the Buddha's great teachings on forgiveness and reconciliation between family members who had come to war with one another. For Thai friends as well, the time, in celebration of the Solar New Year, is one of going to family and friends, and pouring out the water of forgiveness and blessings, bringing us into harmony, washing away all accumulated resentments, leaving us fresh, clean and renewed. A spring cleaning - of the heart. I'd like to share with you a few nice teachings on forgiveness and reconciliation, and encourage you to see if it would be well for you to have such a yearly time of spring cleaning. Of place of dwelling, of body, and if nothing else, of mind and heart -- as this is the very ground of every bit of our experience of our lives. In peace and loving-kindness, Ayya Tathālokā Bhikkhunī April 16, 2011 Sharings of the Buddha's teaching on this subject from very modern to very ancient ~ Reading The Buddha on Reconciliation by Ananda W. Let go of the past. Let go of the future. Let go of the present. With a heart that is free cross over to that shore which is beyond all suffering.
