
Volunteer Opportunities with Dhammadharini
Serving in Support of our Bhikkhuni Sangha and Community

is a volunteer position on the Board of Dhammadharini. She/he provides oversight for the community’s two locations – a monastery in Penngrove, CA and a hermitage in Jenner, CA.
As Board member, she/he participates in bi-monthly Board meetings
As Chair of the Facilities Committee, specific responsibilities include:

Remain informed of the state of physical facilities of Dhammadharini and their needs.

Collaborate with the Monastic Liaison to prioritize maintenance, remodeling and building projects based on budget given by Finance Committee.

Assign, oversee, and assist project leaders
-
Monitor project progress and help solve problems that may occur by conducting regular Facilities Team meeting
-
Assist ptoject leaders to obtain estimates or review bid
Qualifications:
1. Good understanding with functioning experience of one of the fields below
-
Project management with some construction knowledge
-
Architectural Design and/or Planning
-
Civil Engineering
2. Able to work collaboratively with people. Good communication skills.

On-Call Volunteers
Are you interested to help out, but can't make a commitment to an ongoing position?
Dhammadharini would still love for you to participate!
You can sign up to be an on-call, task-based volunteer, and we can let you know about short-term volunteering opportunities. This may include things like:

Driving monastics to local appointments

Helping with errands near the monastery or hermitage

Volunteer days
-
Helping with preparations for a special event
This is especially suitable for people local to the monastery or hermitage, but please feel welcome to sign up even if you are further away.

Support Volunteer
Are you creative, detail-oriented and self-motivated with good communication skills? We are seeking a volunteer to help maintain the quality of the existing Dhammadharini website.
Other volunteers may make occasional minor updates to the website. We need your help to evaluate the website’s functionality, UI and user experience on both desktop and mobile. All work can be done remotely with a flexible schedule.

Conduct manual testing for both desktop and mobile. This mostly entails checking out a page for layout, alignment and, broken link issues on desktop and mobile.

Ensure all content is up-to-date, user-friendly and mobile-friendly for a professional, high-quality user experience.

Work effectively in a team.

Provide recommendations for website improvements.
-
Basic knowledge of tracking and reporting defects is a plus.
-
Basic knowledge of UX/UI principles is a plus.
-
Strong attention to detail and creativity is preferred.

Community Relations Director
The Community Relations Director leads the Community Relations Committee, which works to establish relationships with our local community and beyond. Through activities such as public speaking, special events, written and on-line communication, and networking, the Community Relations Director brings awareness of Dhammadharini to a wider audience. The Community Relations Director may also establish partnerships with other organizations to work on a variety of projects.

Programs & Events Director
The Programs and Events Director leads the Programs & Events Committee, which is responsible for coordinating all aspects of our educational events, Buddhist holiday celebrations, and other special events. This includes organizing the logistics, staffing, announcements, and other activities.

Communications Director
The Communications Director leads the Communications Committee, which is responsible for our website, brochures, newsletters, social media, and other forms of communication.

All Board members participate in quarterly meetings, lead or serve on a Committee, and help the organization’s fundraising efforts.
