About the Event
We welcome all of our Dhamma friends to join our Dhammadharini Bhikkhuni Sangha Kathina Sangha Gathering “Offering the Robe of Merit” on Sunday October 31st!
The Kathina comes at the end of Vassa, the three-month rainy season retreat, and is a celebration of community & generosity. It is the traditional time of year for the lay community to express their support for the monastic Sangha by offering essential requisites (food, clothing, shelter, and medicines). This year's Kathina lead donors Chanaka Ekayanayake and Mala Wijekoon warmly welcome and invite you to join in.
The central feature of Kathina is the offering of cloth to the Sangha, who awards it to one of their members--in some traditions, this cloth is then sewn into a robe before dawn of the next day.
It will be a full day of celebration, with activities including:
Early morning offering of cloth to the Bhikkhuni Sangha
Morning sewing of the Kathina robe
Afternoon Dhamma talk marathon, and continued sewing of the Kathina robe
Early evening “Spreading the Kathina,” celebrating and Blessing Chanting when the robe is complete
The program will begin at 6:30am Pacific Daylight Time (California time), with the offering of the Kathina cloth at dawn. You are most welcome to join for all or part. Please see this Time Zone Converter to find your local time.
Here is the planned schedule for the day (please note that this schedule is still being refined and is subject to anicca!):

6:30am: Offering of Kathina cloth
7:00 - 8:00am Offering of breakfast dana to Bhikkhuni Sangha
