At Dhammadharini Monastery, Penngrove

Daily Meditation:

Ayya Sobhana, Ayya Suvijjana, and Ayya Dhira will be on retreat.

Friends are welcome to join for meditation each day. Please come in quietly at the beginning (not in the middle) of any meditation period.

The bhikkhunis will not be offering Dhamma talks or practice interviews, confident in the benefit to be gained from practicing together in silence. They will be listening to recorded Dhamma talks each evening.

Meal dana roster

We hope for friends to offer meals, so the bhikkhunis will not have to leave for outside alms round. To support our retreat in this way, please sign up on the meal dana roster in person, by phone (707) 583-9522, or by email.

Consider staying with us for a few days or the entire ten days, if you are familiar with monastic traditions and know how to practice and serve in a silent retreat setting.  Please contact us before Oct 25th.

At Aranya Bodhi Hermitage,
on the Sonoma Coast near Jenner

Our founding teacher Ayya Tathaaloka, together with Samaneri Sister Niyyanika, will be on retreat.

The retreat style at Aranya Bodhi is to practice in seclusion at one’s kuti and surrounding forest, either coming to the kitchen to receive daily food or having meals delivered to one’s kuti.

Those serving retreat at Aranya Bodhi have had ample time for meditation, Dhamma discussion and contemplation in nature, along with caring for cooking and basic maintenance chores. It is very comfortable when there are two people serving.

Please contact awakeningforest@gmail.com if you would like to support our Community retreat by arriving on or before Oct 25, and staying through November 6. If you are an experienced old hand of Aranya Bodhi, it is possible to come for a shorter time during the community retreat.
